Sunday evening, March 17, 2013, which also happened to be St.Patricks Day, was awesome. This included the weather and the fact that my best friend and I had the opportunity to finally take the time to do a "dueling" photo shoot in Downtown Atlanta, Georgia. I have on numerous occasions gone down to the city to photograph it at night from different vantage points but this one was a bit different and unique. Because the city was not extremely busy at around 9 p.m., my friend, a professional photographer (
www.alexaleman.com) decided that it would be interesting to get photographs that most would not usually get. This is what I would call street level photography.
I, on the other hand, love architectural photography, so I stuck with taking pictures of the many beautifully designed buildings and structures as I have on my other photo shoots. This is not to say that I did not try my hand at the street level photography but I really felt that continued focus (no pun intended) on the architecture was what I am suited for.
We started the evening on the upper deck of the famous Varsity Restaurant. We spent some time focusing on some of the architecture and then Alex suggested that we spend some time driving around until we found another vantage point. We "landed" on Luckie Street and parked and spent some quality time walking around areas of Downtown Atlanta where you would find the CNN Building, The Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Park, the Rialto Theater and much more.
It was a great evening for photography and fellowship to say the least. There is no doubt that exterior night time photography is challenging, yet, at the same time it is fun and exciting.
Below, I have plenty of photographs that I took to share with you. I hope that you enjoy them. You will find that many of them have been edited which is another part of the challenge and excitement as well.
